Surrogate Motherhood Good or Bad?There are many controversies skirt the idea ofsurrogate motherhood, by its definition, it is a course ofaction that goes outside natural reproduction. Althoughsurrogacy was first brought up in the bible it is only untilrecently that it has in reality become an issue for criticismand debate. Factors such as the growth of infertility inmodern society, coupled with the declining number ofchildren available for adoption, and the development ofsurrogacy contract and commercialized surrogacy agencies in1976, have resulted in increasing publicity and publicinterest in the formation of agreements between infertilecouples and surrogate mothers (Stuhmcke, 3). One type of surrogacy is when an egg is extracted fromthe infertile female and placed in a petri dish and is thenfertilized by the fertile males sperm, the fertilized e ggis then placed into the fertile females uterus so she cangive birth to the child.
